| The WUND tower just
outside Columbia, NC, is a guyed 1500-ft structure in a cornfield.
Really. The equipment platform that holds cabinets for various
equipment, including our repeaters, can be seen as a dark blob
just below (actually 300 ft) the tip of the tower.
There are many antennas of various types on the tower, including law enforcement, wildlife service, and of course microwave antennas for the link to PBS central studios. Access to the platform is via an electrically operated elevator. Part of its structure can be seen just to the right at the base of the tower. |
